Andrew is an experienced litigation and commercial lawyer with over 22 years legal experience, whose practice focuses primarily on construction, commercial litigation and adjudication for clients including mid to top tier construction and building companies, and several high-end profile developers. He holds a Bachelor of Laws and Master of Arts. Andrew has been admitted as Barrister of the High Court of Australia and Solicitor in the Supreme Court of Queensland.
He has been involved primarily in proceedings in the Supreme Court of Queensland, the QCAT, the NCAT and adjudications made under the Building & Construction Industry Payments Act (BCIPA) and more recently the Building Industry Fairness Act (Security of Payment) Act 2017 (BIFA). He has also drafted and revised numerous construction and commercial contracts, provided compliance and merger advice and acted in governance and regulatory matters. Andrew has acted in commercial matters, ASIC investigations and other regulatory matters, corporations’ law disputes, commercially sensitive negotiations with the Federal Government and has drafted corporate constitutions.
Andrew is a registered adjudicator in Queensland with the Queensland Building & Construction Commission (QBCC) and in the Northern Territory with the department of Attorney-General and Justice. He is also a qualified mediator.
Andrew has been the Secretary of the Gold Coast Central Chamber of Commerce since 2016. The Gold Coast Central Chamber of Commerce is the peak representative body for business people within Burleigh, Robina, Varsity Lakes, Surfers Paradise, Broadbeach, Nerang and their surrounding areas. These regions make up over 46 per cent of businesses on the Gold Coast, making it the largest Chamber group in the city.
Andrew is also a member of the Tugun Surf Lifesaving Club and is on their Judiciary Committee, is lover of the outdoors and can be regularly found surfing somewhere along one of the Gold Coast’s beaches most mornings before work and on the weekend.
